I try to import a new release (edo006) and I can't find how to select something for "Mediatype" and "collection" on the "Metadata editor". The fields are blanks and I can't write anything on them. I tryed to Submit but I'm then returned to the page and asked to select something in these two fields...

And I feel the whole netlabel section is far more quick and that's great !

Someone else just reported this - we may have a bug that prevents people from importing that way - I was _told_ it was still possible. Is anyone else having this trouble?

Yes, same problem here.
So, these items will not show up until this is fixed?

re: new method works great, i used it to update an item yesterday and it worked real smooth. the only question/regard i have about it is this:

I went through the Edit pages, checked out the item, and prepared to upload some files via FTP. The checkout page had a "click here when done" link for checking the item back in. Since I use my own FTP client and not Windows explorer, thats what I was going to use because via FTP client the "CLICK_HERE_WHEN_DONE" file means nearly nothing. Thing is, I accidentally closed the check-in page and I couldnt find my way back to it.

Is there a way to get back to the check in page if you close the original checkout page? In order to check in this time I had to use the ftp url in IE so I could use the CLICK_HERE_WHEN_DONE.html, not a big deal really.. but I just felt like I was missing something since I couldnt find a check-in anywhere in the item edit..

Anyways, cheers on the new system.. seems to be going pretty well so far.

@Aaron: how did you avoid the problem with the mediatype and collection fields that is described above?

hi all,

ok, i think i've fixed the audio mediatype + collection
"picking" problem for new items using the /create/ page...

there were two small issues that were preventing the
audio mediatype from showing up to be picked, and then another problem with the submission.

anyway, long story shorter:
should be fixed now for all new items.

for any item that couldn't be picked to be "audio" mediatype -- i think (and hope!) that if you go to the details page for the item, that it will now show the correct "audio" and collections dropdowns for the item owner to pick and go from there. please let me know how it goes!

Well, I was referring just to replacing files (edit) that already existed (the id3s were wrong) so I really didnt have to deal with that.

I havent had to create a new item yet, but I did look over the item information etc.. and I was under the assumption that if I was creating a new item I could just manually copy much of that meta and collection information from another release, but make changes where needed like item identifier etc. The mediatype for example, seems like it will always be 'audio', the collection field will always be the name of your netlabel (the name in your url.. aka, mine is 'one' and the url is archive.org/details/one).

The subject/category field is slightly confusing now but it seems pretty simple, we just can't pick the keywords from a list, example.. on a release i recently edited the subject is indie;Rock;Electronic.

Since I havent created a release from scratch yet, I'm not sure what is automatically filled out but I assume much of the later fields are like Uploader/Adder/etc. The rest of the fields i just fill out like normal.. release date, creator, runtime, file info for the xmls.. etc.

I notice theres 2 custom fields on all the releases too, and for all of ours they're:

type - sound
collection - netlabels

So yeah, if I was adding a release I would just have another release's edit window open just to view the field information.

Hope this helps. Simon said he's going to post some more info later on.

to get back to items that you have checked out,
Click the "Contributions" link at top and then
click on the "tasks that are not yet completed" link
near the top of the contributions page.

If you don't see your item as checked out anymore,
it might have been auto-checked in (after 48 hours).
So return to the Contributions page and hit the
"tasks that are done" link to find them...
